PreSonus Audio began in 1995 by musician and producer Jim Odom. Odom graduated from LSU with a degree in Electrical Engineering, but his passion was to build professional and affordable music production tools for audio engineers and musicians. After years of research, the company released it first preamp in 1998, available in both an eight channel, and two channel model. These designs were truly ahead of their time by being able to recall and automate settings. This kind of technology was normally only found in mixing consoles costing upwards of $100,000. PreSonus, however, made it available at an affordable price for hobbiest and professionals alike. Although many products are digital now, the company still maintains a number of analog products. Today, PreSonus strides to develop state of the art preamps for people passionate about audio.
