Automated Processes, Inc. (API) was founded in 1968 by Saul Walker and Lou Lindauer. Their vision was to create a high quality microphone preamp that would meet the needs of audio professionals in the music and broadcast industry. In 1969, API created the first modular designed mic pre, and developed state of the art technology using conductive plastic faders. Soon, API became the leading audio broadcast console manufacture for radio and television. Recording studios all around the country began using, and loving, API mic pres. Today, 30 years later, many of the consoles are still being used. Prestigious recording studios around the world rely on API's design and technology because there are few consoles that offer the same quality sound, at a cost-effective price.
